WHY I'M RUNNING

The people of Davidson County deserve to have someone who will not only hear but actually listen to what they have to say. They deserve a hard-working, dedicated, loyal person to represent them on issues that are important to them. I was raised on a  farm in Surry County, where I worked in tobacco fields, worked cattle, and was taught very early in life what hard work was. As I grew up, I continued to learn what hard work and determination would get you, as I joined a local volunteer fire department as a Junior Fire Fighter, and attained my Emergency Medical Technician certification while still in high school. I have dedicated my life to protecting others. While in high school, I joined the AFJROTC program rose to the rank of Cadet Lt. Colonel, and was the Squadron Commander. I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during my Senior year. While in the Marine Corps, I served my country proudly in both Desert Storm/Shield and Operation Restore Hope in Somalia. Once my enlistment was up, I received an Honorable Discharge and immediately enrolled in Basic Law Enforcement Training through Wilkes Community College. On June 1st, 2023, I retired with 30+ years in law enforcement. I am also the Davidson County Fraternal Order of Police, President, and the State Fraternal Order of Police, 2nd Vice President. As I mentioned earlier, the people of Davidson County deserve someone who will work diligently and will not waver in defending and protecting them. I am that person, and when elected as your Davidson County Commissioner, I will carry the same dedication and unwavering work ethic into my office as Your County Commissioner. I believe the people of Davidson County deserve a voice to be heard on their behalf, and I am that person!

Thank you and God Bless you all,

James Shores

Davidson County Commissioner

 LIST OF ISSUES

EDUCATION

I believe there is nothing more crucial than our children getting the education they deserve. Tomorrow's society will be filled with our children's dreams and what we have empowered them to be by making sure they have every possible chance to learn. Whether it be a vocational job, college, or the military. Our children are our future.

PUBLIC SAFETY

The people of Davidson County deserve to be protected 24/7/365. Davidson County must have the best possible methods, training, tools, and equipment when it comes to public safety. Our law enforcement agencies, fire departments, EMS system, and rescue squads must all have what they need to get the job done effectively and efficiently.

ECONOMY

Our economy should not be second to anyone around us. We need to build up and support our small business owners as well as targeting large businesses to ensure we have everything our citizens need to support their families.
